The mission behind every painting

Helping Youth Rise, Rebuild, and Thrive

Hope City Charity is a non-profit supporting at-risk and justice-involved youth through mentorship, education, housing, and workforce development — giving them a real path forward.

A phoenix rising from the ashes — symbol of Hope City's mission to help youth rise, rebuild, and thrive

Why every sale matters

When I started painting, I never expected it to become something bigger than me. But the more I created, the more I realized these canvases could do more than bring beauty into someone's home — they could change a young person's life.

Every commission, every paint-your-own kit, every painting sold through PeaceRaven Painting goes directly toward Hope City Charity. Not a percentage. All of it.

These are kids who have been overlooked, underestimated, and pushed to the margins. Hope City gives them structure, support, and someone who believes in them. That's what I want my work to stand for.

Hope City programs

Residential Support

Serving up to 40 youth in a structured, supportive environment designed for long-term success. Safe, stable housing is the foundation everything else is built on.

Mentorship

Consistent, caring mentors who show up — connecting at-risk and justice-involved youth with people who believe in them and help them navigate a future they couldn't see on their own.

Education

Access to learning opportunities that open doors. Because every young person deserves the tools to build a future, regardless of where they started.

Family Engagement

Healing doesn't happen in isolation. Hope City works to strengthen family connections and build the support systems young people need to truly thrive.

Workforce Readiness

Real skills, real jobs, real independence. Hope City prepares youth for the workforce so they can stand on their own and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

Coming to Larimer County

Hope City is growing

Hope City is expanding its reach to Larimer County, Colorado — bringing its proven model of residential support, mentorship, and workforce readiness to a new community of young people who need it most.

Larimer County is home to PeaceRaven Painting, and it's where this mission first took root. Bringing Hope City here means the young people in our own backyard will have access to the same life-changing support that has helped youth rebuild and thrive elsewhere.

Details on the Larimer County location are still coming together. If you're in the area and want to get involved — as a volunteer, mentor, or supporter — reach out to Shelly Holmes directly. Every hand that shows up makes a difference.

A personal commitment

I started PeaceRaven Painting during my radiation treatment for Stage 1 Breast Cancer. Painting became my salvation — a way to stay present, stay hopeful, and keep creating even when things were hard.

That experience taught me something: when someone believes in you, it changes everything. I want every young person Hope City reaches to feel that same thing — that they are seen, that they matter, and that their story isn't over.
